I run a small, distributed research lab called the Future Text Lab which meets once a week, with members from big tech, political organisations, universities as well as independent coders and other interested parties.
Primary research in the group is around the future of work with text in Extended Reality (VR/AR/XR). I think this research is crucial to do now, before headsets become part of our everyday experiences, so that we will not be blinkered (pun intentional) to the opportunities to what such environments and interactions can deliver, and not be stuck with the paradigms presented by the early commercial efforts.
We have experimented aspects of text in VR in the Lab, with VR experiences available for you to try for Basic Reading in VR and Text in VR in general.
It’s vital to experiment in order to experience new interactions rather than keeping them abstract.
