AI

Text and AI is seeing serious hype as well as serious capabilities at the end of 2022, a trend which only continues as we enter 2026, with many early limitations gone, such as hallucinations, and with many concerns still active, such as who controls the training data to set the biases and who owns what AI learns?

Another question is what AI truly is, and what it can be. I had a discussion with Claude.ai early 2026 about the question of AI & AC (Artificial Consciousness) where the question was based not on what the AI can do, but what it can internally experience as background thought.

Although I agree with concerns raised for the dangers of AI for authorship and readership, I do not think there is a mechanism for humanity to even discuss how to pause its development–we can’t even agree on how to discuss taking care of our planet in a timely manner.

I have also integrated AI into my product Reader to augment reading, as distinct from augmenting authorship, which is a more complicated affair but it is being looked at.
