Share your ideas and projects for working with text in Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality projects!
The Future of Text in XR project invites creators, thinkers, and users, ages 18-24, to submit your work for publication in the forthcoming book, The Future of Text Volume 5. Winners will also be invited to present their work at The Future of Text Symposium either in person or via Zoom. The event takes place on Saturday, November 23 from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PDT in downtown Vancouver, WA.
Submission Types
To reach a broad perspective, students can submit their work in a variety of formats:
- Essay: A written essay, 1500-2000 words in length, submitted as a .docx, .liquid or .rtf
- Images: A photographic essay, of up to six full color images, submitted as .jpgs saved as a zip file max 5MB each
- Podcast: A podcast essay, of up to five minutes, submitted as a .mp3
- Video/Animation: A video or animation, of up to three minutes, submitted as a .mp4
Winners
Two winners will be selected from among the entries:
- First Place
- Honorable Mention.
Both students will see their essays published in The Future of Text Volume 5 and will be invited to present their essay at the Future of Text Symposium. In the case of audio or video submission winners, a transcript will be presented in the book. Previous contributors include the inventors of hypertext, Siri, the hashtag, LaTeX, JSON, Wikis, WordPress, as well as academics from leading universities and authors, artists, poets, historians, scientists and thinkers in diverse fields.
